This series is a slow walk to mundaneness. All these guys are so adorable, handsome, and present exceptionally well. And, for the most part, can act, if given half the chance. Indeed, this is a very short series that in my opinion was a precursor to things to come in LOVE BY CHANCE (which I disliked for the most part). Briefly, this story is about three couples who misunderstand and misinterpret what at least one of the partners in each relationship is doing. The entire series feels more like exercise training for future projects.
One couple is a quasi-relationship between Two, played by (Mean Phiravich) and Wish, played by (Plan Rathavit). I do not understand this relationship at all. They have been a ‘couple’ (with different names) in LOVE BY CHANCE and LOVE BY CHANCE 2. They were also in 2WISH.While I detest comparing roles to previous works as each must be able to stand alone, it is hard not to in this case since they are consistently paired together. The same criticisms I have of them in those series is the same with this series. They have no chemistry as there is no spark between them. I am guessing they enjoy working together but if so, it sure does not translate into personas. There movements are wooden and frankly they act like they are acting. Sure, they smile at the right paces and when forced, hug each other.
While Plan does not whine as much in this series, he plays the role of hard to get with some gusto (I do love his hair color though). Mean is not as ‘mean’ in this series but appears to be so uncomfortable playing this role as a gay lover. He can act but his heart and soul do not appear to be in this particular role. They have a hard time even hugging each other. Who ever thought these two can be a couple, I am sorry to say, have got it all wrong. They display nothing remotely of the intensity that a normal relationship between two guys would display. When they hug, they pat each other on the back. Then they look at each other as if they are waiting for the director to say ‘cut’. This is a kiss of death in any relationship. No individual in love EVER pats their lover on the back. Only Grandmas pat on the back. This couple did not, and frankly never has, worked for me. As simply as I can state it, they are not at all believable.
The second couple is Noh, (Captain Chonlathorn) and Phun (White Nawat). This couple is slightly more believable as they look more directly into each other’s eyes and are able to connect. Plus, the dialogue between the two is way more believable. They play their parts with a quiet reservation and a laid-back manner that there was more of a connection between the two. I bought it (a little at least). Here again, there is no intensity between them that remotely makes it feel like they are in a real serious relationship. A few hugs are all you will get.
The third couple is Son (Saint Suppapong), and Pin (Perth Tanapon). This couple is the most believable of the three. I thought they were more realistic with Saint playing the part with a bit more intensity and commitment than in his previous roles. He did not have that silly grin on his face all the time as he did in LOVE BY CHANCE.
Who really S.T.O.L.E. the series? I shall admit upfront that I am biased and smitten by Perth Tanapon as Pin. He can act, although he is not given much in this short series to work with. There is something about his presence on screen that just suspends me into believing him. He is REALLY a very good actor and if I were a Hollywood producer, I would sign him. He could be a breakaway star. What makes him so authentic for me is that I can see the commitment and passion in his eyes when he gets into the role, no matter how small or insignificant it is. When he thinks something is wrong, he can show that on his face. When he cries, I am just devastated. I know I am biased, but I do think he is one of the best (perhaps the best) actor in BL today. I would watch him in anything. (He was in a series called THE STRANDED. He is just phenomenal in that series, and I encourage you to watch that. It is a bit-off-the-wall series, but I loved it).
This is a basic throw-away series perhaps merely for a showcase to hone in on some of their talents. There are some good actors here, but they are only given limited opportunity to showcase their skills or sharpen their craft because this whole series is quite short. If given something with intensity, I think they would all shine.
